The Pilerne-Marra Panchayat has provided a sit-out for senior citizens at Nova Cidade Enclave at Porvorim.
The sit-out was inaugurated by C Hegde, a senior citizen in the area, in the presence of Local Panch Ankita Naik, Ward 7 Panch Ashwini Chodankar, Pilerne-Marra Village Development Committee Convener and former panch member Karan Govenkar and locals.
Speaking on the occasion, Govenkar said there was an open space near Riviera Residency and there had been a demand from residents to utilise the space as a sit-out for senior citizens.
“Considering their request, the panchayat decided to provide a sit-out for senior citizens for them to sit and relax,” said Govenkar.
Senior citizen C R Hegde thanked the panchayat for providing the sit-out for the senior citizens.
“Senior citizens can now come out of their homes and relax in the open space,” said Hegde.
Panch member Ankita Naik later proposed the vote of thanks.
