Commerce Minster Suresh Prabhu on Saturday announced that the government will soon come up with an e-wallet wherein exporters facing problems over GST need not pay first since they have been facing difficulties in getting their refunds.
“We are aware of some problems being faced by exporters because of GST on exports and the difficulties they are facing in getting the refunds. We have been successful in removing so many hurdles. As a guardian Minister, I have been collecting information and conveying the same to the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley,” he told the media here on Saturday, adding that the e-wallet will help overcome the difficulties.
In the meantime, Prabhu said the Centre will unveil a plan on how the coastal states should work together to promote marine exports in a big way, even as he said that a plan of action is being drawn up by the government on how to market goods abroad, improve quality and packaging, and add value-added processed to the goods.
Speaking at the 21st India International Seafood Show at the SAG grounds, Fatorda after returning from Davos-Switzerland, the Union Commerce Minister said the Centre has a proposal to open marketing offices all over the world since a jump in marine exports will ensure huge employment for the people of the country.
“India has a vast coastline running into 7600 kms. Inland fisheries also has a huge potential. We have to tap both sea catch as well as inland fisheries to boost exports,” Prabhu said.
He pointed out that his Ministry is in touch with Korean and Japanese companies in order to make them invest in value-added processes.
Saying that the 21st India International Seafood show offers opportunities for the buyers to select the products, the Union Commerce Minister said that our exporters need not travel the world to market their products.
“We have recently decided to call the buyers from 45 countries right here in India for the benefit of Indian exporters. The same thing we will do for marine exporters,” he said.
Commenting on his participation in the Davos economic conference along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Commerce Minister said that Davos has been a super success.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at the world economic conference was well-appreciated by the world leaders. We are on the way of getting a lot of investments from abroad,” Prabhu added.
