Late night parties have not been music to the ears of many residents along Mandrem's coast and Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte has now responded by assuring to personally visit sites and stop late night parties if authorities fail to act on such events.
Sopte has also decided to take up the issue with
CM Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday.
A group of residents from Morjim along with members of the Sound Pollution Monitoring Board met Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte and submitted a memorandum on Monday, requesting him to stop night parties after 11 pm along Mandrem's coast.
The aggrieved residents told the MLA that they have been severely inconvenienced by such late night parties.
Sopte later summoned Pernem PI Sandesh Chodankar to his office to discuss the issue and directed him to take action against the illegal night parties and those violating the time limit.
Sopte later assured aggrieved residents that he would personally visit the sites and stop the night parties, if authorities fail to act on them.
"People have elected us as their representatives. Why should only people protest against the parties? I will also oppose these night parties and I will personally stop late night parties on December 27, 28, 29 and 30 and police should take note of it," said Sopte.
Speaking further, Sopte said he won't tolerate any illegal activities in the name of tourism.
"No one has any problem if night parties get over at 10 pm. However, if any night parties continue till late in the night, I will not keep quiet. The government should take serious note and ban the late night parties," said Sopte, while assuring to take up the issue with CM Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday.

Coastal MLAs must join in the protest, says Tourism Min

PERNEM: Stating that the government gets huge revenue and locals also get business from many tourists attending night parties, Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Azgaonkar has directed organisers of night parties to strictly adhere to time limits, while also following rules and regulations.
"I will not tolerate illegal activities during late night parties. People should raise their voice against illegal night parties and their MLAs should support them," Azgaonkar
told The Goan.
Advising Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte to take action against illegal night parties along the coastline in Mandrem constituency, Azgaonkar said: "Siolim MLA and WRD Minister Vinoda Paliencar is working against illegal night parties and the MLAs from the coastal areas should follow his footsteps," said Azgaonkar.
