The main road at the entrance to the city in front of the Hospicio South Goa district hospital has almost turned unmotorable as the first rains left the road damaged with huge craters.
This crucial stretch of the road from the South district hospital to the district Collectorate building, which was restored after it was dug up to lay the North Main Sewerage line, has settled down, resulting in huge craters.
Motorists, especially two-wheeler riders had been complaining of the damaged portion of the road in the last few days but the condition of the road has further deteriorated after the overnight heavy downpour.
Two-wheeler riders said they travelled on the damaged road after negotiating with the craters and potholes. They said that with the craters filled with water, they cannot make out the potholes, fearing accidents along the stretch if the road is not repaired by the PWD or the Sewerage Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa (SIDCGL) on priority.
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, who travelled on the damaged road to make his way to the Congress house, South, urged the government to immediately repair the road fearing accidents.
