Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday said that work on the long-pending South Goa District Hospital is progressing as per schedule, while exuding confidence that the hospital work will be completed by November-end.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines on the inauguration of the horticulture exhibition at Ravindra Bhavan on Friday, Parsekar asserted that the district hospital will be commissed as scheduled in December.
When asked why he has not visited the district hospital under construction to monitor the progress of ongoing work, Parsekar shot back saying, “I need not visit the site again and again when work is progressing as per schedule. The question of visiting the construction site does not arise at all when I am satisfied with the progress of work.”
The Chief Minister, however, said that work on the top two floors of the hospital building, which will be utilised to house the nursing school, will be completed at a later stage. “Since the academic year will start in June next year, the government has extended the time for the contractor to complete the work on the top two floors,” Parsekar said.
