New booth created in Velim; two Mormugao stations deleted after MPA colony demolition

Creation of a new Polling Station No. 19 in 35–Velim Assembly Constituency and deletion of Polling Station Nos. 4 & 5 in 24–Mormugao AC, owing to the demolition of the former MPA colonies/ quarters and the relocation of all electors, have been considered decided during the rationalisation process conducted by the South Goa district election authorities headed by Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS.
This was decided at a meeting held on Thursday under the chairpersonship of Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector & District Election Officer. Representatives of political parties, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) attended the meeting.
The meeting also decided to shift the Polling Station No. 39 of 27–Cortalim AC and Polling Station No. 47 of 38–Sanvordem AC.
Modifications in sections/ polling areas, change in nomenclature of sections, and renumbering of Polling Stations, arising from the deletion and creation of new Polling Stations in the 24-Mormugao, 27-Cortalim, 34-Cuncolim, 35-Velim, and 38-Sanvordem Assembly constituencies.
It was informed that after detailed discussions, all representatives of political parties conveyed their agreement to the proposals. The finalised rationalisation plan will now be forwarded to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer for submission to the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, for approval.
Sources said the agenda of the meeting was to examine the proposals for rationalisation of polling stations across South Goa District. The Collector briefed the participants on the rationalisation process earlier discussed during the meeting held on 28/07/2025 with political party representatives of various assembly constituencies.
