The couple involved in misappropriation of funds at the sports department as well as the peon who exposed the scam have been transferred by Director of Youth and Sports Affairs V M Prabhudessai.
While the couple has been transferred to different places, the peon has been reportedly transferred to another section in the sports department.
The transfers have taken place even as the vigilance dept has taken cognizance of the peon’s complaint and is investigating the matter.
The peon had filed a complaint alleging huge misappropriation of funds by submitting bogus bills to the accounts Dept. He had alleged that a couple was involved in the scam.
After The Goan highlighted the peon’s complaint into the irregularities, the peon was issued a memo by the sports department for violating protocol and not following procedures.
Taking cognizance of the peon’s complaint, the accounts department withheld all pending bills of the sports department and began a probe in the matter.
The accused couple has now been shunted and while the wife has been transferred out of the sports dept head office in Panaji, her husband has been transferred to Mapusa. The peon has been transferred to the NCC section of the department.
