St Cruz local dies in accident
CORTALIM: A 24-year-old pillion rider from St Cruz died after he was knocked down by a vehicle at Verna by-pass road on Wednesday evening.
According to Verna Police, the incident took place as Jose Mario Fernandes (57) of St Jose De Areal, Salcete, was driving a vehicle (GA-08-Y-8922) from Margao towards Panaji.
At the Verna bypass road, the vehicle struck a scooter (GA-07-Y-0097), seriously injuring Viky M Talwalkar of Santa-Cruz, who was riding pillion on the scooter.
Talwalkar was shifted to Hospicio in Margao, from where he was referred to the Goa Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Verna Police is investigating the case.
