The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for Santa Cruz village will be set up this Saturday in the presence of a strong police force as currently the police are busy at the panchayat polls.
A reliable source informed that a meeting of SP North along with Director of Panchayats, Tiswadi BDO, deputy director of panchayats, Santa Cruz panchayat secretary, and others was held to chalk out the course of action as far as setting up of the MRF is concerned.
“In the meeting, it has been decided to start the process of installing the MRF on Saturday and the police would provide protection,” the source added.
The Goan had highlighted that the latest attempt by the panchayat authorities to set up the MRF was foiled due to opposition from the locals, on Tuesday.
In the absence of the police force, the panchayat authorities had then decided to abandon work on the MRF.
The Santa Cruz panchayat is racing against time as the High Court has directed the panchayat to start the process of setting up of the MRF and submit compliance report.
