State Transport Authority (STA) member and Councillor Vinod Kinlekar on Wednesday raised objections on rent-a-car operations at Dabolim Airport.
Speaking to reporters, Kinlekar also demanded action against rent-a-car operations from police and other authorities.
"It is sad to see taxi operators struggling for business at the Goa airport while rent-a-car operators occupy one part of the parking right outside the airport. We have no objection against any business but we have seen that there are private cars also being given on rent and this is affecting other business," said Kinlekar.
"Rent-a-car operators must function from their offices and must have their own parking but these cars come to the airport and function from here, which is illegal. Private cars and bikes must not be allowed to be given on rent and this is clear violations of the law.”
“The authorities must immediately act on this because these rent-a-car operators don't seem to use the office that they show while taking their permits. These operators have messed everyone's business at Goa Airport and if the police do not act and take legal action, we will take this up with the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho so that there is systematic business for everyone," said Kinlekar.
