CANACONA
The Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) has declared an old building along NH66 at Chaudi as 'unsafe' and served a notice directing establishments to stop trade and business activities and to vacate the premises.
CMC Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar said the council had inspected the old and dilapidated building/structures and found the portion of the Mangalore tiled roof and part of the side walls collapsed.
“This looks unsafe for humans habitation and may cause loss of life and properties of the occupants and adjacent shop keepers and pedestrians,” states the notice served to five of the traders and business operating inside or alongside the dilapidated building.
The chief officer has further called on the traders/businesses to stop the Trade/Business activities and vacate their respective premises immediately.
Sources said the notices were served on most of the establishments concerned on Wednesday.
Copies have also been marked to the SDM/Dy Collector Canacona.
