People were seen flocking to Baina beach on Saturday morning and it had little to do with sea, sun or sand. Instead, they were busy clicking photos of an unusual sight of a JCB partially submerged in the sea waters at Baina beach on Saturday morning.

Initially, rumours were spread that the JCB had been trying to excavate sand on the beach, but later some eyewitnesses clarified that the JCB was taken to the Baina beach to push a boat from the shore to the sea.

“Usually, a canoe, trawler or a boat on shore is pushed in the sea using a traditional method by placing oiled logs below the canoe and pushing it using labourers or a motor. But this was the first time an innovative idea was adopted and a JCB was used to push the boat in the sea,” said the eyewitness.

“The JCB had arrived during low tide and managed to push the boat into the sea, but got partially submerged as tides began to change. The JCB got stuck in soft sand underwater and was unable to come out. To make matters worse, the JCB’s engine also apparently broke down with the entry of seawater.”

“Later, a tractor was pressed into service at the beach and the partially submerged JCB was tied to the tractor to prevent it from drifting into the sea or further sinking into the seabed. At present, people are trying to get another JCB to pull the submerged JCB at Baina beach,” said the eyewitness.

It is unclear who owns the JCB and who pressed it into service to push the boat into the sea.
