Stating that the South Western Railways (SWR) has achieved highest ever electrification of 712 kms in one year, SWR GM Sanjeev Kishore said the zone has also highest ever gross revenue of Rs 7509 crore.
He also stated that the Londa-Miraj double tracking will be also completed by March 2023. He was addressing the media at the SWR headquarters in Hubballi on Thursday.
“With a punctuality rate of 94%, SWR is the third most punctual zone among all zones of Indian Railways while the zone has earned Rs 2534 crore revenue from passenger service, which is part of the total Rs 7509 crore gross revenue earned in the calendar year 2022. The parcel revenue in 2022 stood at 106.4 crore, which is 18% higher than in 2021,” GM Kishore said.
Further, he stated that immense thrust is given to develop high-quality railway infrastructure. In the period of Jan-Dec, 2022, 22 km new line and 210 km double tracking has been completed.
“In the current year, double tracking of Londa-Miraj section, and Hubballi-Chikjajur are targeted to be completed by Feb and March respectively. This would mean that the entire railway section from Miraj to Bengaluru would be double-line,” he ascertained.
The General Manager stated that for the convenience of passengers, 252 special trains had been run and 244 coaches augmented permanently and 221 coaches augmented temporarily during holidays and festivals, based on passenger demands in 2021.
The speed potential of tracks was raised to 110 kmph over 808 km and 91 trains were speeded up, GM Sanjeev Kishore ascertained.
