The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will mark the birth anniversary of the late Rosario Rodrigues, known as the Father of Khell-Tiatr, by releasing four tiatr books on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3.30 pm at the Conference Hall of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The publications, released under TAG’s Preservation of Tiatr Literature scheme, include Uzvadd Tuka Diun by Menino Fernandes (Menino de Bandar), Novem Jivit by William Fernandes, Kor Mhojem Kalliz Tujea Kallza Sarkem by Willy Silveira, and Pixi Zannvai by Natty Fernandes.
Menino Fernandes, known as the ‘Triple Century King,’ is a celebrated tiatrist whose drama Soccorina has crossed 323 shows. William Fernandes from Curchorem is recognised as a tiatrist, writer, director, and Konkani author. Young tiatrist Willy Silveira has written and staged several productions, while Natty Fernandes has contributed to village-level Konkani theatre through her own scripts and direction.
The event will also feature the launch of the first edition of TAG’s research journal Tiatr Machi, dedicated to promoting scholarly work, analysis, and documentation of the art form.
Carlos Fernandes, Member Secretary of TAG, said the event pays tribute to tiatr’s enduring legacy and its writers’ cultural contributions. “We invite tiatr lovers, performers, researchers, and the public to join us in celebrating this vibrant and unique aspect of Goan culture,” he said.
