Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti (CSMSS) under the banner of Murgao Hindu Samaj (MHS) will inaugurate the tallest standing statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Chicalim on June 6.
Addressing a news conference CSMSS President Kiran Naik along with other members of the MHS said that the inauguration will be done at the hands of MHS President and renowned industrialist Narayan Bandekar in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Arlekar, CM Dr Pramod Sawant and other political leaders big and small besides MLA/Ministers of the entire Mormugao Taluka.
"This statue is a standing statue of Shivaji Maharaj and is 23 feet in height. We may have seen various statues of Shivaji and most of them are on the horse but this is a standing statue, which is the tallest in Goa, India and also the tallest standing statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the world. We will also have the biggest saffron flag of the Mormugao Taluka installed next to the statue of the Shivaji Maharaj during the inauguration ceremony. Many people have contributed by working day and night and supporting us to make this initiative possible and we will felicitate these people during the inauguration function. Jagdamb, the first Goan Dhol Tasha group will be participating to launch the inauguration ceremony," said Naik.
"MHS and CSMSS have taken the initiative to get the world's tallest standing statue of Shivaji Maharaj erected at Chicalim which will be inaugurated at 5 pm on 6th June and we appeal to all the Goans to be a part of the function at Chicalim. Besides the political leaders, we will have many other representatives of many social and cultural groups and also members of various temple committees along with Shiv Premi. We are expecting a presence of around 10,000 people for the inauguration of the Shivaji Maharaj statue," said Naik.
