‘Musings of a Mended Heart’, a book written by Vinita Chico, Assistant Headmistress at the Rosary High School, Cujira-Bambolim, was released at the International Centre, Donapaula, on December 23.
The Chief Guest at the function was Dr Shirish Borkar, Head of the Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Department at the Goa Medical College, while Dr Anupama Borkar, Head of the Oncology Department at GMC, was the Guest of Honour.
Other members on the dais were Neville Chico and Vinita Chico.
The book ‘Musings of a Mended Heart’ is the story of the experience the author went through recently, after she had a bypass surgery. It includes some poems that she wrote while she was recuperating at home for three months after the surgery.
Dr Shirish Borkar addressed the gathering and spoke about the factors that contribute to heart failure and stressed the importance of living healthy, stress-free lifestyles.
Dr Sumedha Prabhu Dessai, a Resident Doctor at the GMC, spoke on "How to take care of your heart."
The book "Musings of a Mended Heart" was then released by Dr Shirish Borkar.
The author, Vinita Chico, spoke about her personal experience of having an Open Heart Surgery and read out three poems from her book. She thanked all the persons who had helped her make it through this difficult period in her life.
