Acting on a complaint, cyber crime police on Friday arrested an ITI (plumbing trade) teacher from Honda and one of his students in connection with transmission of obscene material over WhatsApp to a woman in Tivim.

Previously, an FIR was registered against unknown person under Section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2000.

Cyber crime personnel have attached the mobile phone used to send the obscene messages to the complainant.

During the investigation, it was learnt that the teacher is an immediate neighbour of the complainant, with whom he has not been on good terms since six years.

The arrested student used to go for work with the teacher during holidays.

The probe revealed that the teacher gave the complainant's number to his student and asked him to harass her.

Using a SIM card obtained in the name of his friend's father, the student sent obscene WhatsApp messages to his teacher's neighbour. While the student is from Pirla, Assonora, his friend is from Pissurlem, Sattari. It has also come to light that the student had been using the SIM card since February 2015.

The case was probed by PI cyber crime Rajesh Job with the assistance of a constable. SP cyber crime Karthik Kashyap supervised the investigation.
