A Tempo Traveller parked outside the Valpoi Community Health Centre (CHC) along the Valpoi–Honda road caught fire on Sunday night.
According to the Valpoi Fire Station, the incident occurred at around 10 pm when the vehicle, owned by Pratesh Gawas, suddenly caught fire.
As smoke and flames began billowing from the vehicle, panic spread among people in the vicinity. A fire tender led by Fire Officer Dyaneshwar Gawas was rushed to the spot, and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents, as private passenger vehicles are frequently parked along the road outside the CHC. They pointed out that the fire could have spread to other vehicles parked nearby, potentially causing further damage. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is under way.
