GTDC’s bonanza in constituencies of ruling MLAs

The North Goa’s coastal belt awaits major bonanza, as the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to take up series of development works in the State.
In the last couple of days, GTDC has released a series of advertisements inviting tenders for illumination of tourist locations along the coastal belt and beautification and illumination of roads and temples in different parts of Bardez and far North.
Interestingly, most of the works taken up by the corporation are in constituencies represented by legislators of the BJP-led government.
The corporation has invited tenders for illumination of tourist locations in Mandrem, Pernem, Siolim, Mayem, Curchorem and other places in Goa.
In Saligao, GTDC has decided to take up beautification of road from Guirim Cross to Pokurle Lake by providing footpath and illumination. Similarly, beautification work on the approach road to Nerul Bridge will also be taken up by constructing a retaining wall, footpath and illumination work.
In an attempt to light up temple premises, GTDC has planned to take up beautification and illumination of series of temples in Bardez and further North of Goa.
The corporation has decided to take up beautification and illumination of two temples in Tivim constituency “ Shree Dev Maruti Temple at Pirna and Bhootnath Temple at Nadora.
In Mandrem, GTDC has decided to take up development/beautification work within the area of Shri Dev Sapteshwar Bhagwati Pramukh Panchayatan Devasthan in Mandrem and footpath and illumination from Harmal Tito to Bhumika Middle School at Palye along MDR-18.
Managing Director of GTDC, Nikhil Desai told The Goan that though many of the works will be financed by the State government, some of the works have been funded by the Central government.
“We have taken up works all around the State. It’s just a coincidence that most of the coastal villages taken up for beautification are represented by MLAs of the ruling party,” Desai said.
