Tension rent the air at the Margao police headquarters on Tuesday evening after social activist Pratima Coutinho accompanied by a group of people from Rumdamol Housing Board demanding a FIR against Bajrang
Dal chief Viraj Desai for what they claimed for making derogatory remarks at women.
They further demanded justice to a local resident Imran Khan Nagroli, alleging that a portion of his fast food stall was vandalised by a group of persons.
In his complaint, he said the actions of the accused were motivated by communal animosity, using the nature of my business as a pretext to create fear and incite religious hatred. “Following the assault, I sustained injuries for which I sought medical treatment. Crucially, despite being the victim of these criminal acts and suffering injuries, I was the one who was subsequently detained and arrested under Section 170 of the BNSS, despite the injuries suffered my me to a major extent, while the accused persons were permitted to go free without any legal action taken against them”, he added.
Coutinho and the group demanded action against the Bajrang Dal chief for what they termed as making derogatory remarks against women during his visit to the spot.
A memorandum demanding action was later submitted to Margao Sub-Divisional Police Officer, SP Sidhant Shirodkar.
