The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths have arrested three persons charged with demanding protection money from a Maharashtra-native, involved in a fishing business in Goa.
The accused identified as Dominic Nazareth, from Panaji, and Sayad Ali Attar and D Kumar Vijay Naik, both from Indira Nagar Chimbel are charged under different sections of the IPC.
Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said that the accused, who were absconding after the crime, are charged with committing the offense of threatening and extorting money from complainant Satheeb Ramchandran and other fishing agents operating at Malim jetty, Betim. They are currently remanded to two days of police custody.
Earlier this month, the complainant alleged the accused persons demanded a monthly protection money of Rs 50,000 to continue in the business.
