A Congress delegation led by GPCC President Amit Patkar, Capt Viriato Fernandes, and other leaders, along with parents of the deceased girl child, filed a formal police complaint of medical negligence in the death of a six-year-old girl due to suspected Dengue on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to the media later, GPCC President Amit Patkar said that it was unfortunate that a parent lost their child on Children’s Day.
“The High Court passed a judgment last month against the Government in the matter of Prakash Sardesai Vs State of Goa and Directorate of Health Services (DHS). The High Court, in that order, categorically showed that Goa hospitals do not have proper facilities, medicines, equipment, ambulances, and even doctors, and we had taken up this issue. The girl child was under medical observation at Chicalim SDH, and when they shifted the girl to GMC, the doctors are saying that there was a delay in getting the child to GMC,” Patkar said.
