Three hurt in KTC bus accident at Porvorim

The driver, conductor and a KTC staff were injured when a KTC bus struck a stationary car and rammed into a roadside tree near RG Stone Hospital in Porvorim on Tuesday morning. The mishap led to a traffic jam along the Panaji-Mapusa stretch of the highway for a few hours.

There were no passengers at the time of the mishap as the bus was empty and was proceeding towards the KTC bus depot in Porvorim.

According to reports, the KTC bus (GA-03-X-0363) struck a Maharashtra-registered car parked by the roadside and rammed into a tree. The impact was such that the tree entered the body of the bus cabin.

The bus conductor Sunil Korkhankar from Arambol suffered multiple fractures after being trapped in the cabin. He was rescued by onlookers and later rushed to the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, where he is undergoing medical treatment.

The driver Mukesh Shetgaonkar and staff member Prajyot Barve suffered minor injuries and were released after medical treatment in GMC.
