Ticlo ties himself in knots over water shortage in Aldona

Blowing hot and cold over the issue of water scarcity in Aldona, local MLA Glenn Ticlo sought to deny water shortage at Aldona Primary Health Centre (PHC), but also added that the issue of water supply was resolved on the intervention of the chief minister.

“Whatever the patient spoke to The Goan is not true. I am not blaming the paper, but the reporter should have consulted Dr Manish Gavnekar,” said Ticlo.
When it was brought to his attention that Dr Gavnekar was indeed contacted, Ticlo maintained that there was water in the hospital as he had sent water tankers to the hospital. “I supplied water to the hospital. I sent water tankers to the hospital on their request…water was there…” said Ticlo, who appeared visibly upset because of the news item in The Goan.
He then said that there was a problem with the water supply in Aldona which happened due to wrong information passed by a senior engineer to the subordinates.
“There was a water problem in Aldona because of some arrangement. A senior department engineer gave some instructions probably there was misunderstanding and the valve was being closed at the wrong time,” he said.
The MLA refused to come clean whether water for the village was being diverted to Porvorim but in a significant comment said that his constituency did not have high-rise buildings.
“My constituency has no high-rise buildings like in the neighbouring constituencies,” Ticlo said.  “Water was not diverted as such, but only timings were changed. Nothing has been done deliberately but…,” he added.
He said the problem was finally resolved on the intervention of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “The chief minister intervened on my request and the problem has been resolved. I hope this will continue and we will get water,” he said.
