Time to tell BJP to quit Goa: MLA

MARGAO

Reminding that Mahatma Gandhi had given a clarion call 'Karenge ya Marenge' and launched the Quit India Movement on August 8 in 1942, Cuncolim MLA & Congress Working President Yuri Alemao has said that time has come to tell insensitive BJP to "Quit Goa".

“Let us defeat the candidates supported by the divisive BJP in the upcoming panchayat elections and Save Goa. The people of Goa are suffering because of the misrule of the BJP government in the last ten years. Closure of mining, the collapse of tourism and overall fiscal mismanagement resulted in the financial emergency in Goa, claimed Yuri Alemao.

Saying that youth are unemployed and the needy are not getting timely assistance from the government, Yuri said the government is on a spree of wasteful expenditure with no clue about reviving the economy.

“The BJP government has not taken any efforts to empower the local self bodies. It is only after the intervention of the courts that the government is compelled to hold the elections as per constitutional norms," he said while appealing to the people of Goa to defeat all the candidates supported by the BJP and elect those who will work to protect the identity of Goa.

"This is the time to teach the BJP a lesson for its anti-people policies. I request all the Goans to come out and vote in large numbers to protect democracy," Yuri added.
