How to manage uric acid

Reduce intake of purine-rich foods: Avoid protein-rich foods like chicken, fatty fish and mushrooms.

: You need to increase fluid consumption as when body is well-hydrated, uric acid crystals cannot be formed easily. Consume at least 8-16 glasses of water every day.

Foods like green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cabbage and whole grains absorb uric acid in the bloodstream.

Alcohol interferes with elimination of uric acid from the body.

Carbs like cereals, pasta, whole grains prevent weight gain - a major risk factor for developing gout.

Eating fruits rich in vitamin C like Cherries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes and pineapples is one of the easiest ways to prevent gout attack and control uric acid level.

Sugary drinks are the main culprit for increased uric acid levels.
