Seeking cooperation from the public, Mapusa police have appealed not to burst fire crackers in public places and avoid playing loud music late at night during this Chaturthi festival.

With around 14 Sarvajanik Ganesh pandals expected to be set up in the jurisdiction of Mapusa Police Station, the focus is on security and maintaining discipline at various pandals.

Mapusa police have also advised the public not to leave cash and jewellery inside their closed houses when they will be away for the Ganesh festival.

Police have released detailed advisories to the organizers of the Sarvajanik Ganesh pandals. The organisers are expected to make elaborate arrangements for smooth movement of devotees that throng the sarvajanik pandals.

“We have requested the organisers of the mandals to install CCTV cameras, arrange volunteers and ensure proper entry/exit system,” said Mapusa PI Kapil Nayak.

Stating that police personnel will be deployed at various venues of Sarvajanik Ganesh pandals, he suggested organisers should also explore the option of hiring private security, particularly in the night.

Sufficient volunteers have to be available at all time to guide people who visit the pandal and parking arrangement should be made away from these temporary structures. The organisers have also been asked to install CCTV cameras to monitor the movement of persons visiting the pandals.

“Ensure that vehicles are parked far away from the pandal and if you notice any suspicious movement inform the police promptly,” PI Nayak said.

The advisory also urged the organisers not to play loud music late at night or early morning which will disturb the public tranquility.
