Q: How long have you been associated with the BJP and when did you officially join the party?
Pallavi: I have been associated with BJP informally since 2012 during Manoharbhai Parrikar’s tenure. I was very impressed with the honourable Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and continued my association with the party.
Q: What motivated you to join the BJP?
Pallavi: I had always appreciated the positive transition of the economy in spite of the global headwinds, during the past two terms of the BJP government. The marked improvement in GDP, reduction in absolute poverty, the efficient delivery of welfare measures, the focus on skilling, innovation and entrepreneurship, etc has been impressive to say the least. I also relate entirely to the vision of our Prime Minister for Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Q: How do you perceive the BJP’s alignment with corporate interests now that you are a candidate?
Pallavi: It is more appropriate to understand and appreciate the BJP government’s alignment with national interest, and not corporate interests. In my view, the government’s policies have had a positive impact on all sectors, whether related to manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, services sector, education, social welfare, etc.
Q: Are you equipped to handle the pressures of politics, especially coming from a cultureless accustomed to mudslinging and controversies?
Pallavi: I may be new to politics; however, I am capable of handling the pressure.
Q: We heard that initially you hesitated to accept the candidacy. Could you elaborate on that?
Pallavi: There was no question of any hesitation. As I have said, I have been a staunch supporter of our Prime Minister’s vision for the nation, and this was an opportunity to represent our people and be a part of that ambitious plan for Viksit Bharat. I was also fortunate to receive complete support from my family and from colleagues at my workplace.
Q: Is there truth to the assumption that some members of the Opposition, particularly from the Congress, might support your election campaign?
Pallavi: I am not aware about any such assumptions. However, I must say that I am committed to work to the best of my abilities to do justice to the people of the constituency that I seek to represent, and look forward to the support of all.
Q: Can you confirm if you have the support of all BJP party workers, including those who were previously front runners for the South Goa seat?
Pallavi: The party derives its strength from its workers who have worked ceaselessly for the party’s growth in the State through the phenomenal work they have done at the grassroots. I have complete regard and respect for the party cadre and I am certain that I have their wholehearted support.
Q: What is your campaign strategy? Your promises to the people of South Goa apart from BJP’s poll promises?
Pallavi: I think it’s too early to comment on strategy. Presently, I am spending a lot of time connecting with people and feeling their pulse.
