In a tender issued on Tuesday, the tourism department has said that such land, if it meets the criteria will be selected and offered to event organisers through the Department brokering an agreement with the intended organiser and the landowner.
“The land should meet the site selections criteria, as determined in the EoI document and a committee will screen the land parcels of the interested candidates and will finalise and shortlist suitable land,” the tourism department has said.
The shortlisted parcels of land will be offered to intended event organiser. The organiser would later enter into an agreement with the landowner on the terms and conditions agreed between them.
Once the deal is finalised, the landowners will have to give an unconditional and irrevocable No Objection Certificate for organising major tourism-related events on his land.
The State of Goa has already played host to several large tourism events especially dance music festivals like Sunburn and Supersonic all of which are organised on privately owned land through an agreement between the landowner and the organiser with the Tourism Department having no role in the agreement.
