The Panaji police are inquiring into the death of a tourist, whose body was found floating in River Mandovi on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Amit Gupta, from Haryana. The fire fighters, who fished the body out, recovered a high-end phone from his trouser pockets, a wallet that contained government identity cards and cash, and other small valuables.
The police are inquiring if it was an accidental drowning or he died by suicide. His family has been informed about the incident, police said.
