It was a combination of traditional and modern floats as Cumbarjua celebrated its famed Sangodd festival along the canal on Tuesday, with hundreds of spectators lining up along the bank of the canal to participate in the festival.

As per traditions, the Cumbarjua Sangodd is celebrated on the 7th day of Ganesh immersion and the festival commenced with the invoking of the blessings of Goddess Shree Shantadura Kumbarjuvekarin.

The traditional floats proved to be the star attractions of Sangodd as the youth dressed in various mythological characters enacted the mythological events, which kept the crowd engrossed.

In all, 18 different groups participated in the festival which went for around two hours before finally culminating with the immersion of the Ganesh idol.

During the period, the sound of the traditional musical instruments like dhol, tashem and others rented the air with the canoes carrying the floats dotting the canal.

Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, North Goa ZP chairperson Siddesh Naik, Sarpanch Krishna Parab and other dignitaries were present.

Awards were also given to the top three floats along with consolation prizes.
