In the data submitted before Deputy Inspector General of Goa Police, the traffic unit has specified the requirement of machines for each traffic cell. For instance, Panaji will require 23 machines, Mapusa will need 19 and Margao will need 26 machines for cashless transactions on the roads.

Meanwhile, South and North Goa District Headquarters are in the process of compiling similar data for police stations.

Speaking to media at Police Headquarters, DIG V A Gupta stated, "We are assessing the hardware required for implementing this idea by January 1. Once we receive the data from all corners of the state, we will request for standardised quotes from banks that we are in talks with at the moment for acquisition of the machines."

He further disclosed that the police department has initiated training of personnel in two fronts. The first phase will conclude within a week and focuses entirely on the staff adopting cashless mode of transactions in their personal capacities. The other phase will involve the official transactions such as depositing fees, challans and other monetary exchanges of the department.

"We have already identified the rough number of machines we will require and we are in the process of identification of the points of transaction. To begin with, we will discourage cash-based transactions as a part of policy decision. However, though the facilities will be ready by January 1, cash transactions will be handled during a specified transitional period," DIG Gupta stated.
