The Traffic Police have asked the companies in the Industrial Development Corporations (IDCs) to procure alcometers and hold regular check of their bus and truck drivers for drunk driving.
The move comes after the horrific bus accident in Verna IDC that killed four labourers from Bihar and left five others including the bus driver himself seriously injured.
SP Traffic Rahul Gupta informed the media that his officers made visits to IDCs at Kundaim, Thivim, Pilerne, Corlim, Tuem, Bicholim, Verna, Honda, Canacona and Kakoda instructing to follow the advisory.
"In light of the recent M V accident at Verna involving a bus transporting employees, Traffic Officers visited multiple companies across all the IDCs in Goa. They held meetings with management and instructed them to procure breath analyzer test units (Alcometers). They also mandated conducting breath tests for drivers of buses transporting employees and trucks used by their firms to prevent such incidents in the future," he said.
