Thanks to Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister, Subhash Shirodkar, water bodies and storm water nullahs are getting de-silted in Chinchinim village .

In fact, heavy earth moving machinery is at work in the village , cleaning the storm water drains and de-silting the water bodies ahead of the ensuing monsoons.

The ongoing work was affected on Tuesday after the Panchayat members led by Sarpanch Valentino Barretto and citizens came across wooden logs just dumped in the storm water nullah along the NH66 after being cut down by the PWD.

In fact, the villagers pointed out that much time was lost in shifting the wooden logs lying in the nullah as the logs had to be shifted to make way for the machinery to de-silt the nullah.

Chinchinim Comunidade Attorney Agnelo Furtado thanked the WRD Minister for extending wholehearted support to take agriculture forward in the village. “With support of the WRD Minister, we could give a big boost to community farming in the village. We now plan to bring additional 1.5 lakh square metres of fallow agricultural land under cultivation in the ensuing season”, he said.

Sarpanch Valentino Barretto thanked the WRD Minister and also the Chinchinim Comunidade for allowing the de-silting of ponds and water bodies in the village.
