The Goa Traffic Police have issued an advisory in view of the cycling (road race) which is underway as a part of the National Games that conclude on November 9.
The officials also stated that the traffic flow will be affected on the NH566 from Dabolim airport to MES College junction, NH66 End of the six-lane newly commissioned flyover bridge to Birla Cross junction to IDC Verna junction and Verna Bypass; as well as another stretch of road from MES college junction to Birla/Zuarinagar (MDR) to Queenynagar circle to Cansaulim market to Cansaulim circle and Cansaulim/Verna bypass junction (NH66).
As per the plan, the Birla Cross junction to MES College junction (left lane) on NH566 is closed for all vehicular traffic till November 9 to ensure the smooth conduct of the cycling race. Similarly, movement of vehicles will be restricted in the lane leading from MES college junction to Birla Cross junction NH566 on November 8-9 from 4 am to 3 pm while all traffic coming to Vasco/Mormugao will be diverted on Cortalim-Chicalim circle from Birla cross junction.
The advisory also stated that all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Verna-Margao from Vasco will be diverted on Birla-Zuarinagar-Cansaulim from MES college junction on November 8-9. The authorities have also stopped the movement of all heavy vehicles from Birla Cross junction to MES college junction on NH566 and from Queenynagar Circle to MES college junction via Birla-Zuarinagar on MDR from November 6 till the end of the sporting event. The heavy vehicles are diverted on Cortalim Circle-Chicalim Circle from Birla cross junction.
On the remaining two days of the event, the authorities have also barred the movement of heavy vehicles from MES College to Birla cross junction (left lane) NH566 from 4 am to 3 pm; and diverted on Chicalim circle-Cortalim circle-Birla cross junction from Dabolim airport junction. The cycling race began on November 6.
