Two more accused arrested in tourists assault case

MAPUSA

Anjuna Police on Tuesday arrested two more accused persons involved in the assault of the two Indian tourists in a Siolim night club, while the scooter used to flee from the spot has also been seized.

It was also found that the security agency, which had recruited the prime accused as security bouncers in the nightclub, was operating without the PSARA license.

Police have now written to the collector to take necessary action against the security agency.

Accused Rohit Bhosle and Omkar Pathrud, both from Agarwaddo-Pernem, were arrested for their involvement in the crime.

The police have also seized the scooter used by the accused to flee after committing the crime and also froze the bank account into which the extorted amount was transferred.

“The said account was found to be used by accused Rohit Bhosle and the extorted amount was further transferred into account of accused Omkar Pathrud,” Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi informed.

It may be recalled, two tourists from Karnataka were badly beaten up by security bouncers in the parking lot of the popular night club in Siolim, early Sunday morning, over a trivial issue of the tourists’ car slightly touching a parked two-wheeler.

The accused beat up the tourists and even extorted Rs 5,000 from them as compensation for the damage to the two-wheeler.

Police have already arrested two prime accused in the case on Sunday.

In the meanwhile, police found that the security agency who had recruited the two prime accused as security bouncers was operating without the PASARA license.

“During investigation, the proprietor Deven Arlekar of Goa Force Security Services, Siolim admitted that he was running the agency without the required PASARA license necessary for operating a security agency,” Dalvi said.

He said the police have written to the collector North Goa to take appropriate action as per the Private Security Regulations Act.

Further investigation is in progress under supervision of Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai.
