Vasco police on Tuesday cracked two separate burglaries with the arrest of a 68-year-old man from Delhi but residing in Sirsaim-Bardez and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 7.19 lakh from the accused.
Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said the accused, Amir Shaikh, was caught after a chase and a combing operation at Jairam Nagar in Dabolim late Monday night.
“We registered two cases of burglaries under Sections 384, 457, 454 IPC against an unknown accused and we were investigating both cases after we got CCTV footage in one case,” said PI Nayak.
“There was theft of gold, cash, foreign currencies and watches worth a combined Rs 7.19 lakh which were stolen from two houses.”
On Monday night, PSI Swapnil Naik was on patrolling duty when he saw a person moving suspiciously.
On seeing the police, the accused ran away. A police team began combing operations in the area and caught the accused after two hours of search operations.
