A sixth accused, a trainee police constable Amey Volvoikar (25), was arrested in the murder of Vishal Golatkar of Merces who was found murdered at Voilem Bhat on Sunday.
Police sources informed that Volvoikar had come home during the weekend on Saturday and being friends of the accused as well as the victim, he was also present at the spot where Golatkar was murdered.
The sources further informed that Volvoikar used to often hang out with the group and his involvement cropped up during interrogation of the other accused, after which he was placed under arrest.
Meanwhile, the Old Goa police informed that the other five accused were remanded to seven-day police custody.
“The post-mortem of the victim has been conducted and opinion is awaited,” the police further added.
