OLD GOA
A lorry truck fell on its side at the sharp turn along the Bambolim highway road in the early hours of Wednesday. Luckily, there were no injuries reported.
According to information available, the truck was proceeding from Verna to Bhiwandi-Maharashtra when the driver reportedly lost control on the sharp turn due to brake failure.
However, the incident brought into focus the safety aspect at the sharp turn as Congress leader John Nazareth informed that the area has become accident-prone as a private project has been approved on the land which was supposed to be acquired for the highway expansion project.
"However, the acquisition was dropped and now a project has come up due to which the realignment of the highway was made resulting in the sharp turn at the Bambolim slope," Nazareth stated while adding that heavy vehicles drivers are finding it difficult to manoeuvre the turn, resulting in mishaps like the one involving the lorry truck.
