A fish Container on its way to Karnataka rammed into a hill at Karmalghat, disrupting highway traffic for over 2 hours on Friday morning.
According to sources, the truck was on the narrow Karmalghat slope when its axle gave way and the vehicle hit the hill, just a few metres before reaching the dangerous curve, which witnessed multiple mishaps in the past few months.
Luckily, the container truck driver swerved to his left and hit the hillock, and had it veered to its right or even proceeded a few metres down, it would have gone off the ghat.
The traffic was finally restored after a crane was pressed into service and the truck was taken to one side.
People at the site blamed the incomplete soling of the road, after the recent hot-mixing of the NH66 highway.
