Colvale police have arrested two brothers hailing from Uttar Pradesh on charges of assaulting their roommate in a rented room at Tarwada-Colvale.
According to police, the incident took place on Monday at around 1.30 pm at the rented room of the victim, Amit Kumar, also from UP.
The two accused, Sanjay and Om Prakash Sahni, and the victim, Amit Kumar, were involved in an argument over some fee, during which the accused assaulted Kumar.
On Wednesday morning, Amit Kumar had gone to work at a construction site when he felt unwell with abdominal pain.
The contractor admitted Kumar to the Colvale Health Centre for treatment, from where he was shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital and later to the GMC Hospital for further treatment, as his condition had deteriorated due to internal injuries.
On receiving information, a Colvale police team went to the GMC Hospital and registered Kumar’s complaint. On Thursday morning, a case was registered against the two brothers.
On learning that Kumar had sustained serious injuries and was in hospital, Sanjay Sahni reportedly fled to Mangaluru. The Colvale police later arrested him with the help of the Mangaluru police, and he will be brought back to the State on Friday.
