Police on Wednesday arrested two Ugandan nationals in Anjuna after allegedly finding in their possession various types of psychotropic drugs all worth Rs 1.61 lakh.
The accused were identified as Ssanyu Florence (28) and Nabankema Arisat (26), both nationals of Uganda.
After receiving reliable information that two foreigner women were involved in supplying drugs in the coastal belt for the last several days, Anjuna Police formed a team and maintained a constant watch at prominent places in the coastal village.
According to Anjuna Police, the alleged accused two women had arrived at Onachebhat, Anjuna early morning to supply drugs to prospective customers when plain clothes policemen detained them.
“During the personal search 7 grams of Ecstasy worth Rs 45,000, 10.3 grams of suspected cocaine worth Rs 82,400 and 3.4 grams of MDMA worth Rs 34,000 was seized under the panchanama,” Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi informed.
The alleged drugs along with other exhibits have been seized under the search panchanama.
Both the accused have been arrested under Sections 22 (b), 21 (b) of the NDPS Act and are presently in police custody.
The raiding police team was supervised by SP North Nidhin Valsan (IPS), SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi and consisted of PI Prashal Dessai, LPSI Sneha Sawal, Constables Leena Govekar, Veena Sawant, Praveen Patil and Shamba Shetgaonkar.
Further investigation is in progress.
