CANACONA
The JMFC court in Canacona on Monday remanded Ajay Kharat (25) to 7 days in police custody, in connection with the murder of his uncle Janu Kharat at his residence at Dapot-Canacona.
According to Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, the victim had 8 knife injuries, with 3 of them proving fatal to the deceased. The body was handed over to relatives after a post mortem and the family conducted the final rites on Monday.
Meanwhile, as part of the investigation, a scientific analysis of the crime scene with the murder weapon (knife) and other related material was conducted at the crime spot on Sunday itself, while some statements of the witnesses and others were corroborated as part of the investigation.
The accused is also known to have served on a ship and had been down since some months ago and was privately engaged in the hotel industry.
