The Panaji police have registered an offence against an underage driver and his father, in a car-bus collision that occurred on Miramar-Caranzalem road on Monday.
The 17-year-old has been booked for rash and negligent driving while the father who is the owner of the SUV Scorpio car is facing charges of giving the vehicle to the unlicensed minor. The offence was registered on Wednesday. In all probability, the accused would be summoned for questioning. Whether or not they would be arrested, will be decided, the police said.
The accused suffered a hand fracture after the speeding car collided with a Kadamba bus on the busy road stretch. His co-passenger, also a minor aged 14 years escaped unhurt. Fortunately, students of a CBSE school who were on board the bus were safe, though a couple of them sustained simple injuries.
According to the police, the Scorpio car was over-speeding and collided with the bus that was taking a turn to enter the other lane. The offence was recorded on the CCTV cameras along the road stretch.
