Uttarakhand man dies in Benaulim hit-and-run

A pillion rider from Uttarakhand died in a hit-and-run accident at Benaulim in the early hours of Sunday.

The accident occurred near the Bharat Petrol Pump, Benaulim, when an unidentified car driver hit a scooter. The scooter rider, Kakul Kumar, and two pillion riders “ Raj Veer, a resident of Carmona and native of Uttarakhand, and Harikishan Maithani, a resident of Varca and native of Uttarakhand “ sustained serious injuries to the head, hands, legs and other parts of the body.

Police said the car driver fled the scene without helping the injured or informing the authorities.

Pillion rider Raj Veer later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
