Claiming that the beautified Vaddem Lake project had fallen prey to politics, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday evening said he was being blamed after restrictions in access to the lake.
Speaking to reporters along the launching of road works in Vaddem, Godinho said: “The beautified Vaddem Lake was ideally supposed to be open to public, but it has been locked and lights had been switched off. Attempts are being made to blame me for this.”
Godinho has, however, assured to get the issue resolved at the earliest.
“Authorities have taken over the project prior to completion and MMC has locked the lake under the excuse that the project has to be completed and some miscreants may damage the project before completion.”
“I had kept the lake open even while it was being developed and ideally it should have been open to the public. I had even approached Chief minister Manohar Parrikar regarding this interference in my constituency
and injustice to my constituents, but since he is ailing, the matter was not resolved.”
“I will surely get the lighting switched on and the gates opened and make the project fully operational,” added Godinho.
‘No threat to govt, will meet CM on Sun’
VASCO: Insisting there is no threat to the State government, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is fine and that, he would be meeting him on Sunday.
“The chief minister is fine and there is nothing to worry about. I will be meeting him on Sunday. There is no reason for people to believe that the government is unstable. As it is, we have bye-elections in three constituencies and Lok Sabha elections and so, why do we need another election,” asked Godinho.
