VALPOI
A resolution regarding the beautification of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Municipal Park in Valpoi town has been taken by the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC).
A crucial meeting of the VMC was held recently and several issues were discussed in detail. It was discussed that the problems faced during the monsoon will not be a problem for the citizens in the coming period.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj municipal garden, which is owned by the municipality, is in a dilapidated condition. Currently, this issue is viral on social media. The ex-students of the school in front of the park have reacted to the current condition while reminiscing about it.
The proposal in this regard was put forward by former VMC chairperson and current councillor, Ramdas Shirodkar, who demanded to pay serious attention to the development. In the ensuing discussion, it was decided to beautify the park.
A meeting with the local MLA will be held soon regarding the plans for the beautification of the park.
VMC chairperson Sehzin Sheikh clarified in this meeting that priority will be given to the beautification work.
It is learned that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was first installed in the VMC garden by a team of Sattari journalists. After that, the Satari Press Association started the concept of celebrating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Shiv Jayanti in Valpoi.
Former VMC chairperson and current councillor, Ramdas Shirodkar
has said the garden needs to be beautified.
"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Municipal Garden in Valpoi is a place of prestige for all. This is why it needs to be beautified. A proposal in this regard was submitted to the government a few years ago but the proposal did not go ahead for some reason. Due to the bad condition of the park at present and the issue being discussed on social media, it has been decided to beautify the park after a request was made in the municipal board meeting. The matter will be discussed with the local MLA," Shirodkar said.
VMC chairperson Sehzin Sheikh said that the council will put in efforts to beautify the municipal park.
"It is important to beautify the municipal park. Existing Municipal Boards will make efforts for this. Everyone has been demanding this, and therefore, we will try our best to move this proposal forward with the special efforts of the local MLA," said Sheikh.
