VALPOI
In a bid to offer medical facilities to the people of Sattari, the health department on Friday set up a ward at the Valpoi Community Health Centre for patients with mild Covid on Friday.

This ward will be a major relief to Covid patients in the taluka, as many of them were being referred to the district hospital or Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim.

According to sources, a 30-bedded ward had been proposed, but 10 beds have initially been placed to treat mild Covid patients in Sattari.

“Despite efforts to appeal to people to get themselves tested, many hardly turn up at the initial stage as they afraid of being referred to the GMC or district hospital, which are at a great distance from Sattari,” said a source at the Valpoi CHC.

"Due to late arrivals, many people have developed complications and some may lose their lives. With this initiative, we hope people with mild symptoms can seek treatment at Valpoi."

“People are still not serious about the pandemic and neglect the Covid SOPs and health guidelines. People should come to hospital and get tested as soon as they develop symptoms,” the source said.
