Will never allow privatisation of Chicalim hospital: Mauvin

VASCO
Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday warned that he would never allow the Chicalim Sub District Hospital to be privatised, amid rumours that the second floor of the hospital was being planned to be given to a private party to admit 60 Covid patients.

"I was informed that the second floor of the Chicalim SDH is planned to be privatised and that, a private party is being appointed to admit 60 Covid patients,” said Godinho.

“I want to reassure people as an MLA and minister, that this government sub district hospital will not be allowed to be privatised at any cost and situation.”

“The government is building such great infrastructure for people after spending so much money and suddenly, there are plans to be given to a private party. This is unacceptable.”

Stating that the Chicalim SDH comes under his constituency, the minister said he has already spoken to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant about his opposition to the privatisation of the Chicalim SDH.

“We will improve infrastructure at this hospital and it is my responsibility to even get an operation theatre facility functional,” he added.

"We want 100% of people in the 18-and-above age group to get vaccinated in Dabolim constituency. We have decided that once the portal opens up for people above 18 years, we will have volunteers who will go into all houses and bring people out for the vaccination.”

“It is important that people get vaccinated and only then can we control the Covid spike. We have the capacity to reverse this pandemic. This is not the time to criticise and people must offer suggestions for improvement during such times of crisis," said Godinho.
