Varca murder: No breakthrough, police pin hope on ‘Big Brother’

MARGAO
As mystery shrouds the cold blooded murder of 80-year old Varca resident Trinidade Martins, with no breakthrough yet in the case, the men-in-uniform are now pinning their hopes on the Big Brother to take the stalled investigations to its logical conclusion.

With the preliminary inquiries into the case not yielding any concrete leads into the sensational case, the cops are on the hunt for the CCTV surveillance that are installed in and around the place of residence of the deceased.

In fact, a separate team has been constituted to lay their hands on the CCTV footage from the surveillance cameras that are installed by private house owners, right from the Varca road to the interior road leading to the house of the deceased.

“We hope to get the much needed clue from the CCTV footage of the surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity of the crime. We would come to know the movements of the people and based on the reports, we can zero in on the probable suspects,” informed a police officer.

Colva Police Station in-charge, PI Melson Colaco and his team have been on the job to unravel the mystery behind the gruesome murder of the 80-year old Martins, who was staying alone in his house.

PI Colaco pointed out that the police has interrogated the family members of the deceased to get the leads to proceed with the investigations, but in vain.

He further said the police has been trying to find out the motive behind the murder, whether linked to property matter or any other reason, even as the police has ruled out the possibility of theft or robbery behind the murder.

“The police have interrogated the family members of the deceased in a bid to unearth clues which could have resulted in the detection of the case, but in vain. The police are on the job, investigating into all possible angles,” remarked a senior police officer.
